Greg Barnes

Greg Barnes received his BFA from Wake Forest University in 1985, where he studied painting, printmaking, sculpture, and figure drawing. After college, he worked in technical illustration, computer graphics, and multimedia, always keeping his brushes and charcoal close at hand. Following 9/11, Greg and his wife Janet committed to a full-time art career, starting with portrait work and later focusing on pastels after several plein air workshops. Passionate about landscapes, he paints on location and leans toward impressionism, blending realism with expressive color. Greg currently divides his time between his studio/gallery in Charlotte, NC, national art shows, and teaching.
