Hokanson Dix
In 1996, Bengt Hokanson and Trefny Dix opened their first glass studio in Greenport, NY, where they created glass elements for sculptures and architectural projects. In 2000, they began a collaborative body of blown glass vessels under the name Boar Glass, experimenting with vibrant colors, murrinis, cane work, and incalmos. Inspired by Greenport’s maritime environment, abstract painters, textiles, and aquatic life, they developed their work using a blend of traditional and experimental glassblowing techniques. After relocating to Durango, CO in 2010, they were inspired by the Southwest’s desert landscapes before returning to East Hampton, NY in 2013. Both artists have extensive education and experience in glasswork, with Bengt working in the field for over 25 years and Trefny for over 20 years.
