Elodie Holmes

Holmes began studying ceramics at a young age and later attended the California College of the Arts, where she studied under Viola Frey. It was there she met Marvin Lipofsky, a pioneer of the studio glass movement, who became her teacher, mentor, and friend. Shifting her focus to hot glass, Holmes moved to New Mexico in 1981 to co-manage a glass shop and assist at the Pilchuck Glass School. By 1986, she founded Liquid Light Glass. Over the years, she exhibited widely, and in 2000, she acquired Baca Street Studios, which housed her gallery and studio. That same year, she co-founded the Baca Street Arts District, now one of New Mexico’s most vibrant creative hubs. In 2004, Holmes co-founded Prairie Dog Glass in Santa Fe, providing mentorship for local students and emerging artists. As a founding member of Glass Alliance-New Mexico, she plays an active role in promoting international artists through the Glass Alliance-New Mexico Maestro Program.
